  I am having the exact same problem when I try to run Rome Total War.

  I was also plagued with this dilemma, and finding that the preferences fix didn't work, I dug a bit deeper.
  It turns out that this issue can be fixed by removing the disk check from the game's executable(s). You can find these executables at www.gamecopyworld.com, a rather dodgy looking site, but reasonably reliable (just make sure your anti-malware software is running).
  After finding the appropriate executable, simply replace your old .exe with the new one and voilà! It should work fine. At least, that's what fixed my game.
  Furthermore, for your convenience, I have attached the fixed executable for the base game (the files are too big to upload all of them at once). I know, I'm a hero, no need to thank me.:cool:

  Could you please contact our Customer Service (by clicking here) as they should be able to help you with this issue.
  As you pointed out Windows 10 does not accept most old CD DRMs for security purpose and therefore ROME: Total War is unplayable and if you uninstall it, it won't instal again.
  Our Customer Service is aware of the issue and should provide you with a suitable solution.
  Please be aware that they may ask for some additional information.
